Living Green
In a world that is consuming fuel and resources faster than any other time in history, it is important that people are living green.
Many people still continue to waste energy and materials with little
thought as to what they may be doing to the environment but fortunately
most people are beginning to become more "green."
Simply realizing that everything you do has an effect on the environment is the first step to living green. Know that even as one person you can make a difference.
It is better to have a large population make changes, but it ultimately
begins on an individual level. The reasons that people choose to live
green are as varied as the ways that you can make changes to be green.
Some ways to make sure that you are living green are very simple. Turning off the light when you leave a room
will help save precious energy and in the long run cut your energy
bills down. It costs much more money to leave a light running that it
does to turn it of and then back on. When washing your hands, brushing
your teeth, or anything a the sink turn off the water when you aren't specifically using it.
There is no need for it to be running while you are actually brushing
your teeth. All the water that runs down the drain is wasted. Over the
course of a year you can save a lot of water by simply turning it off.
Some changes take a little more effort but have an even greater impact. Recycling aluminum cans, paper, and plastic can help reduce the amount of trash going into landfills. Most
cities have an area where you can take your sorted materials. If you
city does not have a place to recycle then you could petition your city
counsel to invest in one. Another way to help is buying recycled
products. This will help keep a demand for manufacturers to produce
recycled products.
Living green can be as simple as turning of
the light or as extensive as setting up a community recycling center,
but every little part helps to preserve the planet for our posterity!
